iPhone… my 2 cents
ok, i have been resisting being in too many public debates over this thing… it’s kinda like getting into religious, political, or historical debates - you know they may never end.
so, i’ll keep it short: i might own an iPhone someday - you know after Apple releases at least like v.3 - OR if someone simply gives me one… $5-600 bones? for a phone/media player that is more proprietary than almost anything else out on the market?
This thing is simply a worth as much as a nice watch, belt buckle or sparkly barrette. It’s well worth the money, if glam is your number one interest in a new phone…
…for those of you who have a little more interest in the useful, or technology side of a piece of equipment like this, let me introduce you to a good comparison: Check out Helio - and this may be a little bias as it is a Helio site page - but check out this comparison list + the fact that helio is using a very established phone partner for equipment and has been in successfull business for well over a year now… double the features and at half the price!
UPDATE: HELIO is wack. The short of it is this, interface/UI is wack. Transfering your own files is wack. The store is wack. The only way to get your contacts onto the phone is to upload CSV files to the helio site!!! WTF? This is a smart phone? No cable to even tether the thing to your computer - only way to get anything onto it is with a microSD card… WACK.
So, switch gears and check out the Samsung Blackjack - like a mix between a phone and a PDA - but def not a full blown PDA - hella’ features, many options, does it all - video, full web, homegrown apps, all of it - nice full qwerty keyboard, good battery life - it goes on and on, so check it out - and sorry about the mess up on helio - don’t forget, that shit is wack.

i spent some quality time with a few homies today - BOTH of which were sporting new iPhones, i played with them, and they were real nice - i’m not hatin’ - interface is REAL pretty, big glossy screen, all of it… BUT, something in me will still not let me go get one…

ok, today i went to the HELIO store in cherry creek in denver. based on the first sentence, you can see that this is not going well already. After entering the store, i quickly notice they are totally trying to mimic the “hang out” scene that apple has created with their stores… however - one major difference: Helio store = dead.
2 grumpy girls working counter - i ask one of them if i can play with an OCEAN… they amazingly oblige.
15 minutes later - i hand it back and walk out - consensus results just in… “THAT SHIT IS WACK!” UI, and graphics, screen quality & size, camera, all of it about as good as my 2003 motorola flip phone that isn’t even a smart phone…
It does have a few cool features, but after playing with an iPhone for about the same amount of time as the helio - i have to say i would probably have to save the money and get an iPhone. However, i will still wait for them to get cheaper and get past release one.
And i’m spent.

Yo yo! I am all droolz and spoolz over the iPhone. Maybe Santa will bring me one for Christmas. I love glossy and glam! Thanks for the headzup about the Helio. All the ads make it look promising… One good thing, for the spazzers out there - Helio does have a connection to MySpazz.

Yes Rebz - i also would love if some santy dropped one in with my yearly coal bag… i do have to correct myself as well - the iPhone is MORE THAN JUST GLAM - after having more time to play with others - the interface and features (still some lacking) are awesome!!! re: the spazzzers - don’t forget - you can hit myspace pages easily and do everything on an iPhone(still $600) OR Blackjack(*free with new contract!)
